MAS2 Timeline
Expression of Interest
Individuals aged 70-90 years will be recruited over 15 months from 2023-2024.

Eligibility
Participants who express interest in participating will receive a telephone call to check their eligibility. If eligible, participants will be asked to provide a study partner if possible. Written informed consent will be obtained from participants and study partners.
Initial Questionnaires and Assessment
Participants will be asked to complete a range of online questionnaires in the comfort of their homes and on their own time. This is followed by a face-to-face assessment session, ideally at UNSW Sydney.
Study partners will also be asked to complete online questionnaires followed by a telephone interview.
Phone Interview (1 year later)
One year after completing the initial questionnaires and assessment, participants will be asked to complete some brief questionnaires and do a memory task over the phone.
Follow-up Questionnaires and Assessment (2 years later)
Two years after completing the initial questionnaires and assessment, participants will be asked to complete the online questionnaires and attend an assessment session again.

MAS2 ASSESSMENT TEAM
You will be meeting with one of our researchers when you attend your face-to-face assessment:
Dr Amanda Selwood
Amanda was the former coordinator for the Older Australian Twins Study (OATS) at CHeBA, UNSW. She has a PhD in Human Cognition and Brain Science, focusing on collaborative remembering and close relationships in twins and siblings.
Tiffany Chau
Tiffany has been involved in dementia prevention research including the Maintain Your Brain trial, which is the largest clinical trial aimed at preventing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia by targeting risk factors through an eHealth platform.

Matthew Barwell
Matthew graduated from UNSW in 2021 with a Bachelor of Psychological Science, First Class Honours. Throughout his time at UNSW, Matt has worked at several labs focusing on different areas within cognitive science, such as human attention, distraction, and perception. In 2024, Matt will be undertaking a Master of Clinical Psychology program while working at CHeBA.
Deena Sharabas
Deena has a background in perceptual neuropsychology, specifically assisting with studies that look at visual perception and attention. She is excited to be exploring the avenue of aging and neuropsychology while working on MAS2.
OPTIONAL TASKS
In addition to the questionnaires and face-to-face assessments, participants may be invited to participate in the following:
Collection of blood sample
We will invite all participants to provide a fasting blood sample at the beginning of the face-to-face visit at the NSW Health Pathology (10-15 minute walk from UNSW).
Brain scan (MRI)
We will invite some participants to have a brain scan (MRI) of their brains. The scan takes approximately one hour at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick.

Georgina Brown
Georgina graduated with a Bachelor of Science, First Class Honours in 2023. Working on her honours thesis sparked a passion for psychology and neuropsychology research, which she looks forward to exploring further as part of the MAS2 team.
Abbie Lucien
Abbie is a Clinical Neuropsychology Registrar currently working across several research and clinical roles at CHeBA, Prince of Wales Hospital, and St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research. She has experience in providing neuropsychological assessment to individuals across the lifespan and with a wide range of neurodegenerative, neurological, developmental, and psychological conditions. Abbie has been a research assistant at UNSW in varied projects since 2019.
